Ambidex No1 half bail servicing

Post by Kirpan »

Hi, just recently found an Ambidex half bail at a boot sale, which needed a clean and a bit of a service, all seemed to go ok, except for this spring behind the spool, it didn't seem to be doing anything and may have been bent out the way or something, looks like it should provide a ratchet of some sort with the spool, but before I start bending it about, I would like to find out, what and how and what if I have to adjust it what I should aim for
cheers..

I have a really knackered one of these that I was offering free of charge for spare parts a few months back - no takers, so it went in the scrap metal bin, and if you are lucky it will still be there! That spring just gives it the "ting ting ting" sound as your clutch slips. It should make contact with the serrated ring on the spool.
