Just a note on ELO reels. They were made by Birkbys of Liversedge in West Yorkshire. Birkbys made components for the telephone industry from the late 1920s and specialised in moulding from thermoset resins liken bakelite. Quite how they got into fishing reels is a mystery!

They survived into the current century, making components for the automotive industry but sadly they are now no more
