There was a time when Paul Cook told me he wouldn't work on the early pre-Dalesman rods because of delamination. He mentioned working on a few for hours, only to have them fail later. Of course, being Paul he may have found a way around this issue by now.

I've seen plenty of these rods in good condition, so as Wal say, it might be down to care in previous ownership.

I once had an Avondale that had even more writing on it, seemingly being named for a match angler of the period....it was a beauty...why on earth did I ever sell it?
