Today I found an old rod that I remember using maybe 50 years ago ( ? ), it's a split cane rod with a "solid" top section, that could be glass or wood, it doesn't feel bendy like glass. It is a very dark colour but that could be just old varnish, it has high bells rings and aluminum reel rings.
The badge has largely disappeared but I could make out the word FRANGAS and a bit of digging turned up the name Black Seal.
The rod is arrow straight and feels good and solid in the hand although in need of a restoration, so, my questions are....1. are these rods any good 2. is it worth salvaging ? and 3. does anyone have a brief history of the Black Seal company ?
many thanks in advance and stay safe
Regards

Yes the info is on this site look up MORDEX REELS /REELS and black seal . Potted history etc. Edwards were a local wholesaler and seemed to have stocked of this brand of tackle. All defunct now of course. If the rod inspires you, why not tickle it up and give it a chance again... Tony
