I'm helping a lady friend sort out her late father's estate.
He had some very nice kit which includes Hardy reels and several rods.
The first stumbling block is this very nice split cane boat/big game (?) rod. 7'-2" 2/1 well made with qualty fittings. The only markings on it are a transfer with "The Midlander" written on.
Does anyone know who this branding refers to?

Re: "The Midlander" rod
I had a split cane float rod with the same dark cane and the Midlander label, never did find out anything further about the rod.
Tell a lie I found my old post on the rod turns out a possible Aspinall?
If you search under other cane rods and put in Midlander you'll find it.

There are three things that improve with age: wine, friendship and water sense, and there's no short cut.

Re: "The Midlander" rod
Thanks Harry, I assumed from the quality, and label, that it wasn't a one off.
Off to look ...
I can see some similarities with Aspindale rods. More digging needed.
Thanks again
