D H Lawson spin rod.

Post by Wallys-Cast »

I found this rod on ebay the other day and wondered if any TFF members had heard of a D H Lawson.

The rod is a very lightweight spinning rod and comes with two tips making a rod of 5ft 6in or a lighter actioned rod of 6ft long. It looks to have been designed for a small multiplier or a closed face casting reel and I think it is probably of American or Canadian origin.

It has genuine agate lined rings throughout which are all in very good order and the ferrules are like new so I don't think it has seen much action but the varnish is now crumbling with age.

I did originally think this would make a great Gudgeon rod project and it only cost £20.00 including delivery but now I have seen it, it seems a shame not to restore it to its original condition.

Not heard of that maker, but I have a J. A. Walker single-handed trout spinning rod that has a similar abbreviated handle and trigger. It is ringed for a multiplier to be used on top of the rod.

Mine was purchased as a potential gudgeon rod too. :Thumb:
