Another Unknown Rod?

Post by Silfield »

A long shot I know but does anyone have any ideas on this one?
It came with another purchase about 20 years ago and to tell you the truth I had forgotten that I had it until having a rummage for something else.
There are issues as I dont think the tip is original and has a mismatched ferrule but it does look worthy of a bit of TLC.
Any ideas or leads would be appreciated.

I can't help you identify that rod, but I like it a lot!

It isn't spilt cane, is it? Spanish reed and greenheart tip?

I think I can see the odd “ node “ on the rod , maybe part whole cane, part Greenheart or Lancewood ?

An old cyclist's rod perhaps? Looks a wonderful piece of history! No name visible on the bag which appears correct.

Looks very much like the rod Jack Hargreaves had that he got from Ogden’s during the war... it is on YouTube..

Travel rod. ( Yes, bike rod)

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!
