Thank you all for your comments. The rod itself was a prototype made by a rod maker in Germany. It's definitely passsed the test for chub and barbel.
It is important to be aware that every fishing story...depends on the honesty of those telling it, the accuracy of their memory and the realibility of their interpretation of the circumstances.

Lovely fish...... there’s something magical about catching big chub on a river....cracking photo too!

Hi,

not Vito made this rod but a friend and myself. It is based on the taper of the Fred Crouch Barbel Perfection with some modifications. It is also bit shorter, just 11 ft and has a hollow build mid section. Not sure, but I think it was the second or third rod we made.
We gave it as a prototype to Vito for some testings and it seems like it is not that bad :)

Interesting Markus :Sun: You've certainly engaged a good angler to field test your chub/barbel rod in Vito! By crikey does he bank some super specimens :Thumb: Do you intend to make many rods? I'm looking for a maker of cane blanks and would be interested to know if that was possible?
