Old Fellah. I wonder if this is the rod alluded to in my last post?

It is possible however mine is more like 9ft long rather than the 8ft that yours is.MGs wrote:Old Fellah. I wonder if this is the rod alluded to in my last post?

It looks like they made both versions. I have just found this on a search, went cheap recently

Just recieved my recent ebay purchase of an un-named rod that I thought looked like a Marco 'Test'. The rod does not bare the Marco name but the handle and handle fittings are definetly the same as my Marco 'Test'. However, the top ferrule on the middle section and the ferrule on both tip sections are not Marco quality!! The rod is whipped throughout with jasper/amber, similar to the one Ashbycut restored his Test with (going on memory) but does not have their trade mark triple bands near the butt. To me the rod looks like a Test that Marco may have made without their logo on, otherwise it's been restored badly along time ago!!!
The float rod looks like it should have been 10'6" but is now 10' (there may be a few inches missing from the top as the top ring has been re-whipped on. The ledger section looks all original and would make the rod up to a 9'8" heavy ledger rod. Interestingly, most of the Test's that I have read about on the forum have come with a ledger tip section, including two that I have purchased!

Just compared it side by side with a Test and now sure its not a Marco rod but is very similar! When restored I think it will make a nice carp rod!

Re: The Modern Arms Company Ltd - Marco rods
Just had a phone call from my dad. He took his recently acquired Capella Deluxe for a session today. Rod reel and freelined bread. Result, 5 carp to 20lb in an hour, from a local pond. Apparently the rod coped admirably.

Re: The Modern Arms Company Ltd - Marco rods
Yet more Elasticane options. My dad came to visit and bought me an early birthday present. A fly rod, thinking it would be of use for my small stream fluff chucking. The rod is in generally good condition and has its original stoppers. It doesn't bear any model name but the logo is almost intact.
One small problem. Having now had time to put it together and measure it, it is 10'6" Not much use on my local stream where I could do with something around 6-7'
Anyone have any idea which rod it is?
