Help with a B. James CTM12 please.

Post by DrJohn »

I didn't know we still had this rod. Labelled (just above the handle) B.James & Son in association with Bruce & Walker...problem is the rod has damage on the butt section just above the butt ring. Rod has sentimental value as it was my Dad's and he gave it to me when I started.

This damage is about 4 inches south of the first whipping for the butt ring on the top of the rod.

My guess is someone may have trodden on the rod but didn't properly squash it...I hope this makes sense!

Question is the rod scrap?

Many thanks, John.

P.S the fibreglass blank is a muddy brown colour with dark red whippings.

P.P.S or should this post be somewhere else?

I have just had a look at a CTM 14 that I have and I think that if you were to remove the butt cap you could slide another piece of tubular glass ( from a donor rod) down the inside to repair it. That is all I can think of to effect a repair I am afraid. Good luck, Reedling. :Hat:

I'd say that sounds spot-on, though it might be work asking one of the pole repairing companies their opinion:
