I was asked by a friend if I could give his old Easicast a wee spruce up. It wasn't in too bad a nick, just general wear and tear. It also wouldn't spin, so a complete strip down, and thourough clean. Turns out the spindle was a bit rusted,,,,1200 grit wet and dry soon sorted that. Stripped the spool and frame, coated with etch primer and then 2 coats of satin black followed by 2 coats of satin lacquer.

Excellent job. I was thinking it looked a load better after it was stripped of the old paint and I would probably have kept it like that but that paint job is really good.

If it had been mine Wal, I would probably have stripped it and polished it.....but my friend wanted it back to "original".

Interesting isn't it, while we all strive to have our rods in pristine condition reels with paint loss and signs of use are deemed to add character. I have pondered long and hard about re-finishing a couple of my reels but ultimately have decided they look better as they are.Wallys-Cast wrote:Excellent job. Wish I could paint reels as well as that!
