Is this the lake off Cooper 's Lane or the larger one to the west of the town centre by the old airstrip? The former looks like it could have been a brickworks.Steve-S wrote:Of minor interest, maybe, the lake (Clacton) site is a brickworks in 1930 and by 1948 is shown as a fish pond and disused kiln. I was hoping to see some reference to Austins as mentioned in KC's book (by memory).

What is your favourite word?
I suspect it could be “love”, despite its drawbacks in the rhyming department.

Yes, the one off Coopers lane. I've never fished it but had a walk around it in the early 80's.

The one off Coopers Lane used to be a Private club water and not fishable on a day ticket. This from Tendring Council The lake is a "Disused gravel pit of three quarters of an acre ) Looks like it,s now available on a Weekly ticket.
The one on the Shangi-la Caravan site (Now known as Oaklands) has some very old dark carp swimming about. Iv caught carp to just over 20lb and some very nice Tench to 7lb from that lake.
