I think your right GOS, It's not the MK 3 or 4, more likely to be the Mk 2FP type 3 or 4.

Sorry, I meant 'quickly detatchable'. GOS seems to speak of a spool that comes off without unwinding the whole check mechanism.

That spool seems to appear on various models, right up to later swan-neck bodied ones.
