Absolutely stonkingly amazing Rich - just love the photos and the story :thumb: :hat: .
So good to hear the long common (or is it the very aged slimmed down version of the Redmire King as some believe) is still alive and taunting you all with its prescence.
Never fished there - but maybe one day - when the long common is ready ...............
Cracked it at last.

Hi
Thanks everyone for the nice comments, it means alot. I am just finishing off a couple of coarse rods for the river and a fly rod. Any one who knows me will know the way I finish my tackle is not mainstream ! I apologise in advance but the finish is far from traditional I have attempted a modern slant on traditionaly hand planed cane rods I will post some pictures in a couple of weeks it will be nice to hear your thoughts even if you really hate them! Here are the handles I plan to use made by a great chap in the states Steve Peck. The reel seats are German by RST big enough to take my old cardinals.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures, Sir ... very much indeed.
