Thanks for that - Crucians do feed at all levels then, by your direct experience. One down, what about Crucians living in clear flowing water like the GU at Kings Langley.
Anyone else caught them in similar conditions?

I've never caught one in flowing water of any sort Rotrax, nor can I remember hearing of any. Perhaps my strangest capture of crucian is one that took a s16 knotted midge dry fly meant for rudd

I took my sons partner's eldest boy fishing today, again at Milton Pools.
Very cold, only 2 degrees at 9AM.
I showed him how to rig a light float and away he went. I used my Sealey F/C D/L and Alcocks Record Breaker, as before.
He picked up a couple of decent Roach and a nice Bream, I managed a nice brace of Common Carp, biggest about 7 lbs.
The next fish, hard on the bottom amongst a load of fizzing bubbles was a Brown Goldfish.
The Crucians I caught last visit were much more golden, red fins and looked proper.
