My best Ambidex

Post by Caneforme »

I have several of these fine reels, this one is my best condition one. It is frequently used and I have had some very good fish on it.

When I bought the reel it was a little clunky but a service and some statically placed lubricant (plus a little less well placed oil that managed to get on one of Sue's bestest tea towels  ) and the reel was wonderful and smooth.

John :)

I have one like that but not as shiny!
Thats a nice looking reel and well looked after!

I have a few Ambidex reels now, I like them.
I picked one up ( same as your one) second hand a few weeks ago..
The reel was running a little stiff and sticky so I stripped it down for a spring clean...
On close examination (with a magnifying glass) I noticed a hair line crack in the body casting, feel a bit un eady using it now.
I think Ambidex reels do look good on split cane rods. Just my opinion.

Yes, nice reel.

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!

Hi Mr B,

Thank you, I was amazed how good it was when it arrived.

I have an Ambidex body (plus the other bits) you can have for free if you would like it. I reckon you could make a great reel with it and your cracked one.
If you would like it PM me your address.

John :)

I will cover the cost of post and packing if it is the same model... Thanks John.
