I did a search to see who has 1/16 inch or 1mm cork sheet in stock at the moment and two of the sellers I use do.

If you search for “cork sheet” products both Guagemaster (they sell directly as well as supply but sometimes don’t have their own product s!) and Jarvis Scenics will come up. I prefer the Guagemaster cork - Jarvis cork is fine but it’s a lot darker for some reason (great for painting but probably not what you want for a rod. I should add that both products are composite, not solid - something I forgot to mention in my first reply.

Sometimes I have used cork of off those cork wall poster boards that you stick pins in, you have to find one that suites though ie thickness etc

The best sheet cork now available is used by musical instrument makers, its not cheap but makes a great job.

That does look quality mate. I can see me investing in some of that for my model railway work this winter!
