I have just got a very similar rod(even the rings are of the same design)that is now on the varnishing rig, a Hexacane Cyril Marson Light Salmon rod 13' again with two tips. This rod looks like it has never been used .Its got a fixed bottom reel fitting.I presume it was made for spey casting.I guess it was made in the 1930's.I will try to establish what weight fly line to use with it. I am favouring a 9 weight line. I have never caught a salmon on a cane rod before but I will try to do in Ireland this year using this rod, probably on the river Feale in West Limerick.

I should have added that it was made by Milwards.
