Drawstring bags for reels - supplier found
Like many of us, I have too many reels but like to keep them in as good a condition as possible. I have my 'user' reels (which I still look after as well as I can) plus some that are more special and come out on sunny days only. I have been looking for some small drawstring bags that I can use to protect my 'user' reels and I also like these because they don't take up much space in the bag when I am travelling lightweight.
Step in the 'The Clever Baggers' and their cotton drawstring bags . I ordered two sizes to try out:
- 15cm x 20cm at a whopping £1.03p each including VAT perfect for small centrepins like Rapidex, Trudex, Conquest, or a small Mitchell like a 308
- 20cm x 24cm at £1.10 each suitable for bigger centrepins and fixed spool reels
There are lots of colours to go for, plain ones to match your kitbags like emerald or teal, or bright colours if you want to stand out! They are pretty basic but, if like me you always want to try and 'improve' stuff then you can easily add a toggle and a woggle (available from eBay), like I have here in the last photo.

They have a good range of other similar bags and I can already think of lots of other uses.

Excellent little bags, worth buying as an inner bag for unpadded reel cases. I have a few of the original Youngs pigskin reel cases which are losing their inner lining in small bits and pieces which tends to stick to the reels, these inner bags have saved all that.

I've always liked the pigskin bags that used to come with Abu reels. ABU eventually replaced the pigskin bags with cloth ones and then stopped altogether. A while back I wanted a little project so decided to makes some leather bags for some of my Abu multipliers. I bought some scraps of leather from a certain website and the results are shown below. The one on the top left is an original ABU bag and the others I made. The blue ones I sewed by hand but the others are machined.

I have been using similar cotton bags at 14cm x 20cm, buying them by 10s, from that auction site. Unfortunately, or good, only in plain cotton colour but can be dyed.
I do like the idea of the bright yellow highly visible one - unlikely to be lost! And they are a bit cheaper!
An excellent find!

Thanks for the nod, I've been thinking about reel bags for a while now. Nice to see they also make plimsol bags

Re: Drawstring bags for reels - supplier found
I too have a supplier... sadly she is not available for commissions... at the last count I needed another 7 bags
My good lady indulged my request for some reel bags
They are a double drawstring design in black with double burgundy ties
She even lined them with a fleecy material to keep my reels clean and tidy
I think I got me a diamond...❤

Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home
