S. Allcocks & Co. Reflex reels

I came across these 2 reels on a French auction site. One is stamped S.Allcocks & Co.

Were these reels produced exclusively for the French market?
Does anyone know why Allcocks produced/sold these in France? (maybe something to do with the popularity of tournament casting there?)

Quite a few variations of these Reflex reels.
No 1, no.2, junior etc.
Mentioned in the Turner books on tackle collecting.
