New grub screw?

Post by Timothy Claypole »

Good afternoon all,

I am hoping that someone might be able to help me lay my grubby mitts on a new grub screw for a narrow drum Speedia.

Lovely little reel and spins nicely, but grub screw is very near the end of its usefulness (screwed in almost as far as it will go).

Any help hugely appreciated :Thumb:

Do you know the size? If not, maybe a call to Gary Mills will help. I needed one for a reel and found them on Ebay (which can be a very helpful website), or was it Amazon?

If its a later one it'll be a 6BA. You'll just need to measure the length. Easy to obtain online for a few pence.

I did not realise they could be sourced so easily.

It is one of these Speedias....

Yes a later type boss (I think) and steel screw. That should make it a 6BA. If you got a local engineering shop they should have one or just order online. Either way you'll only spend a couple of quid

Hovis is spot on, search on the bay for;

6 BA x 1/4" GRUB SCREW CONE POINT SLOTTED HEAD BLACK STEEL QTY 25

Fitted my speedia perfect.

I'd be happy to send you a few, but they are only £4, and worth keeping
