I have always used tiny link swivels. They have never let me down - and they're cheap!

Yes. You don't need anything very strong - just some means of holding it on the line without causing damage. That was the problem I had.

Update , I bought these last week, came from Amazon directly so no delay.
They are very supple, the holes are too small for my liking but I pushed a sewing needle through the hole and heated it up with a lighter before pulling the connector back off, over the hot bit. Worked perfectly.
I think a hundred will see me out!

Very useful, particularly if the float has no end eye. I think I'm going to try a link swivel with a leger stop above it, so that the float is a slider. This should cause less stress on the line, anyway. If it doesn't work out, I'll just go back to my usual method.

I have removed most of my float’s end eyes and either use thin tube (particularly on stick floats) or these.
