Silfield wrote: Mon Jan 16, 2023 8:18 pmThanks for the information, I have been looking on and off for the last 20 years for a makers name and now I have one :Thumb:
I can attest to the highlighted text, as from folded all it needs is a light flick to lock into position.
Allcocks may have made them under licence, or bought the rights outright, I don't know, but the designer was Hancock.

I'm afraid mine doesn't erect with a flick as my thong is too tight. :eyebrow:

Here's how they appeared in an old Allcocks catalogue:

Silfield, yours is a "Quicksure"/"Quick-sure" landing net, also from Hancock & Co., introduced a little before 1895.

There's a couple in the Mullocks auction tomorrow.

The Gazette ran a little feature on the Quick-Sure net when it was released in 1895. Marston described it as "a first-class landing net in every way", and "the greatest improvement in landing nets that we have seen for years".
