I came across a chap from the EA testing the water at our local Brook, I asked him why he was testing the water 100 yards upstream of the outfall from the local water treatment works? Surely it it should be downstream and the reply was this is where its always tested :hairpull:

Of course the water should be tested both above and below the outfall of the water treatment works.......Regularly.

All water courses were checked by reps of the Water companies - EA did at one time - it obviously became too expensive - for a man with a van.
