Did MARCO ever make an ‘Avocet’

Post by Jeff Smith »

I’ve posted a question on the B.James section regarding an ‘Avocet’ style rod that I own.
The rod is fitted with a rubber button bearing the name ‘Marco’
It’s highly likely that it’s just been replaced and I’ve been told that the rod may be a JB Walker kit rod but, if MARCO ever made an ‘Avocet’,there’s that possibility too.
It’s been superbly restored by some genius somewhere but, does anyone recognise a similar rod in their MARCO collection?

I have a few Marco rods...and have seen quite a few over the years.
I also have a couple of un named rods with the Marco end screw in button bearing the name.
Lets see the rod if possible.

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!
