New purchase

Post by LongshoreVagabond »

Hi all

I've just bought this on the unmentionable auction site -7', 3 piece fly rod, for not very much money.

I asked the usual questions and it appears sound and straight with tight ferrules.

The bottom reel collar band is stamped 'THE COLONEL' so I'm hoping it might be an Allcocks fly rod, but I've not heard of a 3 piece version.

As to the action, casting weight, etc., who knows, it might be a pig in a poke!

Yet to be delivered, but hopefully a good brook/ small river rod to cherish.

Any thoughts / information, welcome.

John

Looks like a nice rod.

Hopefully it will be Santiago.

Always a risk, buying blind on auction sites, but here's hoping it's a good 'un.

Perhaps someone on here will be able to put some 'flesh on the bone' as to its origins.

Arrived today and what a beautiful thing.

Looks great, casts well with a #5 DTF, and all fittings sound.

Really pleased, and looking forward to the trout season...

Any information about 'THE COLONEL' would be gratefully received.

Incidentally I've paired it up with one of my Roddy 310's that I first purchased in the mid 70's. The price on the box - £3.
