M. Lee of Reditch

I have just found some information saying the M in M Lee & Son Ltd. stands for Moses, who founded the company, but I can't find any real info on him. Does anyone know owt about this chap.

I don't believe that's correct. Cunningham's Law?

It's my understanding that, uniquely, M.Lee was founded by a woman.

While it's true that M. Lee was a woman, I think the men involved were the driving force behind the business. She was just a fly-dresser for many years. In 1939 the husband was the proprietor of a tackle business, the son was the manager, and she was occupied with unpaid domestic duties.

That's the chap who wrote that the company was started by woman, Mrs. Mabel Lee, I believe...

Correct. I don't think it was unique in that respect though. There were other women running things like fly-tying and lure-making businesses from the Victorian era onwards.
