Not eaten farmed salmon for over 30 years.
HOWEVER, if you look in the freezer section of the supermarkets, certainly Tesco, they frequently have frozen wild pacific salmon fillets, and they are ok. I know they can have issues like a lot of fish such as heavy metals and other contaminants, but in my opinion much better than the mass poorly produced Scottish farmed s h one t.
EDIT: Management just chimed in and said Waitrose have a variety called Keta salmon, which Dr Google says is also known as chum, or dog salmon. It is not frozen, it's in the wet fish section. Interestingly (to me anyway) the name dog salmon arises as the mushers driving sleds about in Alaska used to (and maybe still do) feed it to their dog teams.

Staggering figures from the Severn and nobody seems the slightest bit interested. Our country is a disgrace, the water company system is corrupt but allowed to carry on without censure from the Government. It's as depressing as it is frustrating.

I've been seething about this since I wrote the above. What made it worse was a very vanilla report on West Mids local news about the drop in Rod Licence sales this season. The item featured a chap in a wheelchair on a commercial, fishing and stating how it's good for his mental well-being. It went on (with a free plug), that the EA suggests that there are great benefits in spending time by the water - all this in the same area that the Severn sludges through.

If the EA want us to fish and pay good money for licences then why don't they use their ample legislation to hammer the water companies into submission?

If anybody wants to organise a boycott on buying licences - I'm in.

If I was a UK citizen, I would certainly join you!

You'll probably meet a lot of like minded people at the March For Clean Water https://marchforcleanwater.org/
Greetings from Bamberg

I stopped eating Atlantic salmon years ago. I do occasionally have Pacific salmon.

I WILL NOT eat Scottish shellfish either, all the crap from the farmed nets falls to the sea bottom and shellfish eat it.

I do eat tinned fish but not John West either after watching a video of how the ethical line caught tuna is done.

I do like Muntjac when we can get it.

I shan't be at the march as I shall be enjoying a long awaited break in Cornwall. My heart will be with all of those that attend.

I have not eaten farmed salmon, from any source, for very many years along with Scottish shellfish. I am also reluctant to eat any fish, pollutants, plastics and micro rubbish.
I am also reluctant to fish the rivers these days because of pollution from sewage out flows. I now fish still waters, wild waters as opposed to “swimming pool” commercials.
How I long for a return to the opportunities of fifty or so years ago.
