My wife asked me if it’s the same as a Brazilian lift.

Just checked that out, haha. Similar improvement but mine should last a bit longer.

I was going to go, but Jackie is having a total knee replacement on the 10th so I'll be at home looking after her as she'll not be very mobile
That's a coincidence Aitch, I too am having my knee replaced on the same day. I guess we both have a good reason for missing this one. I hope it goes well for her, give her my regards, Bob

Does Garry Mills attend the tackle fair and if so does he do reel repairs on the day (wondering since this is listed on the show poster)? I have a spring that needs a minor tweak – he's done one for me in the past.

He's usually there Tim, and he will tweak your spring if you ask him nicely :Hahaha:

How sad for me to do a random search this evening ' Who started The National Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair?'

Google came back with ; Neil Freeman of Angling Auctions started the National Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair. The fair is sponsored by Angling Auctions and is considered the country's largest and most popular vintage tackle fair.

Grok on Twitter came back with ; The National Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair was started by John Andrews, a vintage tackle dealer who has been organizing the event for many years.

It seems after all the effort of The Collector's Register and starting the fair back in 1995 has been airbrushed out of history.

Shame really as I was hoping I would be remembered for something in life.

Managed to get twitter to put the record straight - Bob Turner is indeed recognized as a key figure in the founding of the National Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair. According to information from online sources, this event took place at the Abbey Stadium in Redditch, which is noted as the spiritual home of British fishing tackle manufacturing. The fair has been described as a significant gathering for enthusiasts, featuring dealers, collectors, and enthusiasts from across the country. The first known mention of this event in relation to Bob Turner dates back to about three and a half years ago from a video posted on YouTube, where he is named alongside another enthusiast, Bob Bray, in discussions about vintage fishing tackle collecting.

This event has become an important part of the angling community, offering a place for buying, selling, and trading antique and vintage fishing tackle, thus preserving and celebrating the history of fishing tackle.

I worked with Bob for a while back in '95 and he told me about the meetings. I got the impression that it was more to do with books than tackle but, that was probably due to his avid collecting. It took me many years to finally get to one.
