I came across this today on an auction site - a set in what looks like introductory packaging.
"AS NEW AS TOMORROW . . ."
(Interesting enough for a screenshot, but not enough to warrant the opening bid price!).
The little plastic sleeves were apparently called 'prestite cleats' - who knew?
I have a new 'mission' for next season - to catch a fish on a float ledger rig comprised of a Newark Needle Float and a 'Capta' lead!

The weights are the best thing about this setup. I still use them. They are ideal when using hemp, as you don't get fish chasing the shot.John Milford wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 10:38 pm I came across this today on an auction site - a set in what looks like introductory packaging.

Re: Newark Needle float
I use “STOTZ” weights from “ Preston’s Innovations” when baiting with hemp. They are not round like normal weights but are longer in shape and the fish are not as interested. I use size 10 but larger ones are available. I am sure others are available from different tackle suppliers.
I have used normal shot on the hook shank with a tiny blob of white paint to simulate the swelling hemp seed.
