I would not disagree with you, but I once owned a 7950 T1 (with the ebonite rear flange) that Bob Singleton declared was his personal favourite! Sadly it was such a good example that I was reluctant to use it and eventually sold it to a 'proper' collector! Early Ariels, have a magical appeal and you have made a wonderful purchase! :Thumb: :Hat:

For me the 7950-T3 is the definitive version, the apotheosis of Aerial design, at least from a visual standpoint. It's the quintessential centrepin.

Let's see a picture of it then Titus.

I too love the T3, it is in my mind, the nicest looking and most practical of the early Allcocks Aerials.

Hi Titus, Until I joined this forum, I didn’t know about the different types of Aerial reels. When I was a lot younger, I always wanted a twelve spoked Aerial. They just looked good. A few years ago, I bought what I know as a 7950 T5 (the last type with the calliper check) from a TFF member at 4” it was my “Goldilocks” reel. A short time later, my dream of a twelve spoked Aerial materialised - a 4” 7950 - T6. (the first of the “v” check). Not as old as the T3, but still on a hundred years old. Both reels are beautiful to use (and look at!). The last of my 4” Aerials is a Popular. This too is great to use, as are all Aerials regardless of “type” or size.

Just enjoy them. I’m now spoilt for choice!

Oh to be at my “Happy Place” where nothing matters but the being there.
