Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire.

Has anyone here fished the river around the town centre?

I spotted a large barbel when looking from the town bridge last Spring & fancy going back with a rod sometime this year.

My son and family live on B o A and we visit regularly.
Seen people fishing from the South bank below the library but very hairy getting down there.
Plenty of accessable swims a few hundred yards downstream in the park and beyond.
Don't think the fishing is prolific but chub and roach seem present.

Have never fished it myself but know plenty who have. Think some of it in the town is a free stretch. Think it can be really decent on a good day.

From what I remember the free water was from the Town Bridge down to the railway bridge; had some nice roach on there. Below that it used to be Bradford on Avon angling club as I remember fishing a match on the Tithe Barn stretch which was much deeper and good for bream.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the ‘Jolly Craig’?

I have a friend called Craig and he is a jolly chap, but this must be different.
