Cold water carp.
I was determined to go out for a early morning session the other morning. Breakfast was had, gear loaded in car and I headed out into the darkness. On arrival at my destination I could see from the car park that the first pond was frozen, so I grabbed my coffee and got out of the car for a look at the other small ponds.. the other two were also frozen, I then decided to drive to another small pond that I know and was about 10 mins away, after parking and walking down the very frozen track I could see that the water was not frozen over and with only just a small amount of ice in one corner. Seeing this as a result, but also knowing that I only had about two hours before I had to be packing up and making my way home, I decided on putting a few maggots in three different swims and decided not to stay in a swim if I hadn't seen anything in 40 minutes The first two swims sadly didn't yield a bite or show any kind of movement, so with 40 minutes left i moved into my last baited swim, rebaited my size 10 hook with 5 or 6 maggots and after ten minutes my trusty A J Davis MK 4 Richard Walker carp and old mitchell 300 and myself were connected to a lovely and feisty little common. After the capture of the feisty little common, it was then that I decided because I could no longer feel my fingers due to the cold that I decided to call it a day and made my way home a very happy angler with my cold water capture.

Lovely looking Carp. A nice result on such a cold day.
Oh to be at my “Happy Place” where nothing matters but the being there.
