Hi all
Is there anyone on here that could place the mesh for me on a sewn in teardrop style net head. I’d like a far more fish-friendly mesh, but still have it sewn in.
Best
Dan

Hi Dan, I wonder could you post a photo of your net for a better understanding of how it’s assembled and why you feel it’s not fish friendly. Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul
Thanks for messaging. Here’s the net. The mesh holes are far too big. I used it last year, just the once, and it caused damage to a carp’s dorsal tissue. I was hoping someone could replace it for me with a soft mesh.

Re: Replacement Mesh Teardrop Style
I wouldn’t bother with smaller mesh being sewn in, as I found out it’s rather prohibitive regarding cost and aesthetics as the net has to be cut (threading sleeve taken away) and refinished to accommodate the sewing in. It looks pretty ugly on the inside and outside of the frame, it does not benefit the qualities of a cane or wooden frame because the mesh is so much smaller and conceals it more or less. The best bet is to run the arms through the net as I and many others do. I know nothing about ‘rubber’ mesh so cannot cast any light on this. Olly seems to know…….

Isn't it a shame we can't make our own nets as we did.
Im pretty sure with the right thread and small knots the fish will be fine.
After all, we hook them, and drag them through weeds and Lilly stalks.. pick them up take the hook out, then a photograph, put them back in a net or bag and rest easy thinking we just love them. We enjoy catching them.

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!

Yes - some waters now ask for rubber landing nets - better for the fish. Snowbee do a variety of sizes, from trout to salmon!
One of the easiest ways it to buy the whole net and frame - then transfer net to your cane version - you always get the correct size then.

Hi Dan, if I were you I’d contact David Craine(Old man river). He makes high quality traditional landing nets and may well be able to help you source and fit a new mesh.
