Following my last session on the Trent with some success,I was back for a final session of my season.
The method and tackle remained the same.Long trotting ,mashed bread and some coarse liquidised bead made up the feed and punched 15mm bread discs as hook baits.
The first hour saw three bream grace the net,one close to the severn pound mark ,which thought it was a barbel! The Trent bream are full of muscle.
The next hour was quiet. The trickle of small balls feed saw the return of the bream .Two more added to the running tally.
Now the next fish was special and made my day and season.
A beautiful Grayling of about one and half pounds......smashing.
Following a minor hook length re-tie and a plan for the last two hours.I decided to increase the liquidised bread feed to get a good trail of bait running through the swim to try and draw in a chub.
After only a few minutes the bream were back and over the next severn trots the same amount of bream came to the net. Most of them would go over five pounds.
It did not stop there.
The float disappeared at the end of a long trot and Mr chub had finally paid me a visit.A fish pushing towards six pounds was in the net......what an afternoon.
I had three more chub in two-three pounds bracket, plus two more bream.
The light faded on my season and what a curtain call it was.My low estimate over seventy pounds of prime Trent fish!
Heres to the new season.............
Enjoy your last river sessions-Nige.

Crikey that was a good session Nige and a Grayling too on bread. There are quite a number of them with us on the upper river but they've been very elusive this Winter along with everything else in truth. Anyway well done on a well deserved Red Letter Day. Paul.

That sounds like an excellent result on the float!
