Is 4lb line ok for float fishing using a E Sealey octofloat deluxe rod

I use 3 or 4lb Maxima for float work on my Octofloat deluxe and up to 6lb for light ledger work when looking for Chub or Tench.

I think that all depends on for what species and where you’re intending to fish. We use 6lb line whilst fishing on the marsh drains for tench ranging between 3lb and 7lb in the summer months where it’s fairly weedy and drop down to 4lb line during the autumn months for river perch fishing….
