New Avocet in the making.

Post by Stephen Baker »

After a chat with Andrew Davis the other morning, we have now put the wheels in motion and he is building me a nice new Avocet. I already have a MK IV dick walker carp made by Andrew ( lovely rod ) and a Anthony Croft Roach supreme and wanted something in-between for my tench and chub fishing. I must say Andrew is not only a nice chap to talk business with , he is very helpful and has a lot of good advice when trying to decide on a new rod. it is not often that I would wish my days away.... but new rod day can't come quick enough.

That will be a beauty for sure. Show us the pics when it arrives.

Not just a rod, it’s an experience, and the anticipation is part of the pleasure!

I have a number of Andrew's rods (trout and coarse), they are all superb, and as you say, Andrew is one of the nicest people you could meet. I'm sure you will enjoy your new rod immensely - but as you say, the waiting is the hardest part!

Which type of Avocet are you having built? I've read that the whole cane butt version is lighter in the hand and overall superior to the built cane version.

I have the kit rod version (whole cane butt) and it's a delight to use, especially for trotting.
