Zephyr Waggler and motley float selection

Post by Ski Piit Wldie »

Just a picture of a few of the more interesting floats from a mixed bunch I recently got from a last minute online bid.
For size the Waggler in the middle which has a Zephyr style spiral paper body is about nine inches long, never seen a vintage paper bodied waggler unless someone turned an Avon upside-down.
The one below that has tapered hardwood inserts in a reed body, it looks much older, otherwise what you see is as much as I know
Any thoughts on any of them ?

I had one very similar to the pink tipped, green bodied float. It was quite successful but very sensitive to shotting so I found you had to leave a bit of the body showing and I never thought it was any better than a conventional float and was prone to getting blown about. Can't remember much more than that really. Interesting float to own now though.

Agreed on that pink tipped float, never seen another, I expect that for some of the reasons you mentioned they got used once or twice and were consigned to the float box that was always left at home, Mike.

Left at home for a while then binned or given away. I wish I still had the sets of Ivan Marks floats I regularly used and the two big loaded Missiles by Billy Lane.
