If that is a JB Walker and I think that the assumption is correct, then your friend has a fine rod. They are renowned for having a lovely crisp action, light in the hand and a favourite all rounder for many people fishing for a variety of species.

I agree it points to being a JB Walker, which I reckon were better then the others similar makes.
