As an aside, I picked up a Chapmans 'The Carp' in glass yesterday, have you seen many of those around?
In the post this morning was a Chapman 550 Carp, I,v Just compared the two and they are the same test curve and action.PershoreHarrier wrote:That looks a rather fine piece of kit - anyone know how it compares to a Chapmans 550 which of course is around the same length but a three piece instead of this two piece. I recall reading many years ago that the best rods would be one piece but that 10feet and more was totally impractical hence rods were built in sections.
I must admit it has often baffled me why Chapmans built the 550 as a 3 piece and not a two piece.
I think what put people off this one was that i needs a bit of work, but fit a reel band and the rod,s usable as it is.Hovis wrote:Lee that 550 was a real bargain its the cheapest one thats been on ebay for ages
Stripped ready to go back together.Hovis wrote:Yep I really wanted it but just missed the end of the auction. Never mind I am sure they will be another one along in the future and you will give it a good home.
Let us know how refurbishment goes.
