Yesterday, I spoke with Jonathan Ward-Allen from the Medlar Press and can now confirm that my new book is currently at the printers! It is hoped that the completed work will be available by early November.

This new edition comprises of over 300 pages and is illustrated in full colour throughout. The chapters include a chronological history of the company, as many reels dating from 1894 to 1971 that I could find (and attribute to the company) and the centrepin reels produced from 1984 to 2001. There are complete chapters covering prototypes, the Ambidex, the Aerial, leather reel cases, catalogues and appendices that include copies of the original blueprints, patent applications and repair manuals.

This new edition includes all the reels covered in the 2009 edition plus many others including:
The Weber Fly Reel
The Pattern Number Three
The Salar
The Impulse Reel
The Britannia
The Hercules
The Swift
The Zephyr
The Kennet
The Champion Float Fishers Reel
The Easicast
The Purist

This will be a Limited Edition book that is only available direct from The Medlar Press.

Incidentally, the final J.W. Young reel catalogue, that was published in 1964, had a light blue/mint coloured cover. We decided that it would be appropriate for this book to have the same coloured cover as I hope this will be my final book on the subject. :surrender:
