Lovely collection.
It's always gratifying to look over your collection of home-made floats, and even better to catch fish using them.

But it's soul destroying to lose them, as I did on Thursday when landing a fish. The hook pinged out, and the float embedded itself in the foliage 15 feet above my head.

Think I'll stick to using plastic bought floats in future.

No I won't ! :Hahaha:

Many thanks for your feedback lads. The floats are something I turn out every now and then, particularly in the bad weather of winter. I do give quite a few away to friends, who seem to appreciate them.

Then ones I'd recommend having a go at are the wide topped sticks, the peacock wagglers and if you fish tiny shallow trout streams (too small or overgrown to flyfish), the cork bodied floats shown last. They take a swan shot and a nice worm. You can fish the shot directly under the float in very shallow water. They allow more control than freelining which I also do on these small streams.
