Good shout Michael. Mung beans is one I always remember Rod Hutchinson using to some effect. I may take some along on my next roach foray in the hope that trout don't like them.

Tinned black beans are already prepared and very effective for carp tench and can be flavoured overnight.

Luckily one of my suppliers of pizza flour sells them, along with a lot of other beans which look like they would be interesting. Hemp is going to be a big part of the plan for winter roach and then carry on into next season for tincas.

Used these yesterday mixed with some old hemp that had been frozen. They stay on the hook really well if you pick the right one and accounted for around half the roach I caught, tending to be a better size. Will use again.
