Light avon rod

I have an 11ft Sealey 'Featherweight' 11ft 8.5ozs? through action three piece, not sure if an 'Avon' rod would be much different if less than 1lb test curve?

Yes it is a glass rod, I acquired it pre 'lockdown', not sure if they did a cane version?

I have a glass 11ft Conoflex rod that I use/d for bream - extraordinary light and a t/c of about 12oz or even less.
To me an Avon is a 1lb t/c - I think the above were described as chub rods when a chub of 6lb was an absolute monster. 3-4 being the average.

Just to put rod weights into perspective, I have a really rare Hardy 'Ultramatch' rod, 12ft three piece, weighs 5 ounces eight Drams, but it is c++++n!

I share your good advice, incidentally I did say in my post that the Ultramatch was c++++n!

If you are to go down the glass route there are some canal rods with spliced tips with an even lighter t/c - and weight!

I suspect a cane rod with a lighter t/c may not be described as an Avon. Although a Hardy Avon Float rod and perhaps a Wizard could be exactly that?
