Welcome, Paul. Nice to hear from someone in your part of the world. When I joined the forum last year my knowledge of old tackle (well, of any tackle, actually!) was extremely patchy. It's still not good but it's immeasurably better than before, thanks to the amazing depth of knowledge and generosity of the people here.
I was encouraged to recommission my old 1970s float rod I made when I was a kid, which had been languishing in a corner of the garage for years, and I've also acquired various additional items, including two cane rods and several reels, which I find much more interesting than all the modern stuff - which I don't understand anyway!
What would be interesting is to hear about the species you fish for, the waters and the tackle and methods.
