For me ... if it's whole cane butt and centre sections and split cane tip, or a cane/spliced cane tip, a 3 or 4 lb crucian would be fine ... but a decent sized carp would prove "interesting." The action is all in the tip and not designed for larger fish, or casting distances.

Totally agree with AC, wouldnt want to hook an angry carp, I only use mine with 3lb mainline so hopefully said carp would break the line before the rod.

I'd imagine i'd be using 3lb breaking strain line or even 2lb on cruscians.

Yes, that's my rod that Mick Holgate refurbished for me, a very nice job
