Re: Sealey Flocast Mk 4 (Ambidex)
Well ... I now have a reel that works !!!
2.5mm removed from the pin, and then some dressing with a fine file and the plate slipped on with the pin in the slot.
However ... I then discovered that the plate was so bent out of shape that when the screws were tightened, the pillar that the handle spindle slots through was pulled out of true causing pressure on the spindle. Some VERY gentle bending and the plate is about as flat as I'm going to get it, and the reel operates really quite well.
In fairness the seller did offer me a full refund if I returned the reel, but I decided to keep it at the price I paid ... and when I can afford it I'll approach Mr. Mills about giving it a good seeing to.
All's well that ends well ... and I'm actually quite pleased with myself for sorting it (or 'unbearably smug' as Mrs. AC puts it !!!)

Good work AC!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Where it was intended to be ... the reel mounted on the handle of my Edgar Sealey and Sons 'Floatcaster Deluxe.'
Thanks, Gentlemen All, for your suggestions and comments. They are much appreciated.

Glad you fixed it....those Sealey badged reels are pretty rare. I see it has the 'match type' bale arm...devils for rusting...a good one is worth all the money you paid for the reel.
