I've got one of those Nobby! I'd go for the Avon Royal Supreme for carp and barbel as it's slightly bigger and absolutely bomb proof in construction. I use a Rapidex for much of my trotting for grayling and chub, but they are prone to damage due to the caged construction.Nobby wrote:![]()
I hate to mention names on the 'net these days..it just drives up prices, but G&Y did one reel that is an utter belter for carp. Well made, solid and not too heavy, it'll even trot a line on the river too.
Let's just say it's got G and Y in its name.........
As Nobby is hinting, the Grice and Young reels without the adjustable drag and the high prices are every bit as good as the ARS. I've rarely felt the need to wind up the drag on my Crown Superb (same mechanism as the ARS)
