As Jim Snr only lent his name to the B & W partnership (his son and Ken Walker) for quite a short time then B J in conjunction with............are of course somewhat rarer than the later 60's B & W rods - whether they are worth more I don't know. Although I owned many BJ cane rods from the 50's I never bought a 60's glass rod, for some reason I purchased the DW Hardy glass Mk 1V's, probably because I'd lost touch with Jim Bruce by that time although my father kept in contact once he'd moved.

I've only gone and managed to get another one of these rods, this one is another one with the pink lined rings, so now I have 2 rods with pink lined rings and 1 with the amber lined rings. This third rod cost me £50

Quite interested to read this thread as I have a B. James & Son in association with Bruce & Walker CTM 12 match rod - (brown blank with dark red whippings) with the rings lined in pink.

Butt section on my desk at the moment with my 1975 Mitchell 300 attached.

Any thoughts on the dates of these rods?

John.

The pink lined rings are ceramic and very hard indeed. I recall Moley had the Rockwell indexes for them and they are far harder than anyhting used before or since I think.

 Wow loop well done and what a collection.
Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’

I have a matching pair of both the carp and avons. They are really nice to use and take a lot of abuse. I only have one Bruce and Walker bag between the 4 rods, I wonder where all the bags go ?

Out of the three I have two bags but the label has come off one. Maybe people sell them and put in fake rods
