And that's definitely the inflatable plastic crucian he uses in all his 'trophy' shots :D

Actually it is an early Conquest, the type with no micro drag adjuster on the spool, but a friction control and ivorine gauge on the backplate instead.

At least I think that makes it an early one, as Youngs patented the wheel in the hole drag adjuster and it's now thought that they actually made the later Conquests.

( equally, the two firms rubbed along quite well anyway...Hardy patented the full bail arm, but came to an agreement with Youngs and let them use them. In fact Youngs went straight out and 'improved' on it anyway with the Ambidex's 'flexible pickup')

That picture is from Peter Rolfe's 'Pete's Place' on his http://www.crucians.org site, btw.

I probably need to get out more........

Pretty sure it was taken on 'opening day' last year.

Chris fished there the evening prior to our visit and caught a tench, but no crucians. He has had many two's there though, sounds the most idylic place....

Here's a better picture of the reel....I think it's the one...what do you lot think?

I know the Colonel knows the truth of it.

I see that Canadian site also thinks the wheel in the hole is the easrlier one.......hmmmmm!

And I find lots of others on the web think that reel IS a Dragonfly. I need a lie down.

I love my 12’ Edgar Sealey Floatcaster Deluxe. The weight isn't so noticeable once you're on the bank. This one’s been beautifully revamped by Steve Boncey with gorgeous kingfisher blue whipping. Its been out on its first tour of duty this week. Tuesday was a tench morning on a nearby lake

...and today an overgrown rural stream for some wild chub and minnow.
